Offaly have set up a last-eight meeting against Laois next week.
The Minor footballers of Offaly and Westmeath experienced mixed fortunes in the Leinster Championship preliminary quarter-finals last night.
After a tough week for the Offaly Senior and Under 20 sides, the Minors picked up a much needed win for the county when they beat Carlow 5-16 to 2-7 at Netwatch Cullen Park.
They'll go on to face Laois in the quarter-finals next Wednesday in Tullamore.
However, Westmeath's year was ended by Wicklow in their preliminary quarter-final clash.
A late fightback from the Lake County wasn't enough as it finished 2-8 to 2-7 at TEG Cusack Park.
