Westmeath Face Must Win Meeting With Meath

It's been a bruising Joe McDonagh Cup campaign for Joe Fortune's hurlers.

Westmeath's hurlers begin their campaign to avoid relegation to the Christy Ring Cup this weekend.

Joe Fortune's side were expected to compete with Laois and Offaly for championship honours in the Joe McDonagh this year only to lose their opening round at home to Kerry.

Defeat to Offaly and a draw against Down in Ballycran has left Westmeath at the wrong end of the standings with just games remaining.

The Lake County face table toppers Laois in their final round so victory against struggling neighbours Meath is a must.
