Westmeath Fighter Aiming To Join Grainne Walsh In Reaching National Championships Final

Top prospect Jason Nevin fights in a national semi-final tomorrow evening.

A midlands boxer is preparing for a national final this weekend. 

Tullamore’s Grainne Walsh faces Cork's Christina Desmond on Saturday 66kg National Elite final.

She booked her place in the decider when she defeated Kaci Rock at the weekend on a 4-1 majority decision. 

The 28 year old is still hopeful of reaching the next Olympic Games in Pairs.

Elsewhere, Jason Nevin from Olympic Boxing club Mullingar will be fighting for a place in the 60kg decider.

He takes on Jake Rapple from Monkstown at the National Stadium tomorrow evening.

Paul Loonam, and Nicole Buckley surrendered their national titles last week on the opening two nights of the National Championships.

While Portlaoise BC's Rachel Lawless was beaten in her semi-final bout with Niamh Fay of Ballyboughal boxing club.
