The cost of running Westmeath's inter-county teams is threatening to spiral out of control.
While County Chair Frank Mescall avoided using the term 'spiral' at the county convention meeting in Mullingar this week, he did confirm that Westmeath spent €1.2m on county teams in 2023.
That's an increase of €30,000 on the year previous.
While the bill for backroom team personnel came to €175,000, again, €30k more than 2022.
On the plus side, their very successful fundraiser "Quid Game" raised €170,000 and will be counted towards next year's figures.
