Westmeath Pick Up Belated Joe McDonagh Win

They got the better of local rivals Meath.

Westmeath have moved off the foot of the Joe McDonagh cup group stage.

They defeated local rivals Meath on Saturday by four points, 2-20 to 1-19.

Pressure had been building on manager Shane O'Brien and the panel to deliver a much improved performance in Navan.

Gerry Buckley of the Westmeath Examiner says they achieved that:

They end their championship campaign against Carlow next Saturday.
