Laois are in Mullingar on Saturday for a National Hurling League opener against Westmeath.
Westmeath's new hurling manager believes the county that deals with the expected challenging weather conditions best, will prevail on the opening weekend of league action.
Seoirse Bulfin is currently preparing his players for their a midlands derby against Laois in their Division B opener.
Westmeath will have to do without a number of frontline players this weekend.
Killian Doyle, David Glennon, David Reilly, Peter Clarke, and Kevin Regan are all expected to miss out for round one.
