Both reached a final as part of two separate crews.
Athlone's two participants at the World Junior Rowing Championships in Bulgaria are returning home proud.
Donagh Claffey and Martin O'Grady spent last week in Plovdiv competing for Ireland as part of the men's double sculls and quadruple sculls crews.
Both teams advanced to the final in their respective events after a succession of strong performances over the course of three days.
Unfortunately both were unable to make the podium with O'Grady and his partner Oisin Boyle finishing 5th in the double sculls final in a time of 6.36.52.
That left them behind Germany, France, Poland and Italy but ahead of Greece in the standings.
It was a similar story for Claffey. His partners Fergus Bryce, David Foley and Ronan Gibbon came home in 6th place in their final in a time of 6.11.00 behind Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Belarus, Switzerland.
Both competitors will have plenty of experience to bring home to Westmeath ahead of the next major event on the calendar this Autumn.
