Wins For Westmeath And Offaly In O'Byrne Cup

Season starts early

The new season began a couple of weeks early on Saturday with the O'Byrne Cup, and Westmeath footballers got the defence of their title off to a good start when they  beat Wexford by 1-11 to 0-11 in Enniscorthy.

Westmeath are at home to Meath next Saturday.


There was an entertaining local derby in Portarlington with Offaly coming out on top against Laois.

The final score was Offaly 1-17 Laois 2-12.

Next weekend Offaly play Louth in Drogheda and Laois travel to Enniscorthy to play Wexford.
