World Cup Review: England Thrash China To Secure Top Spot

Reigning World Champions the US have to settle for second in Group E

The United States have secured their place in the knockout stage at the World Cup - but only just. 

The defending champions played out a 0-0 with Portugal in Group E in Auckland. 
 

The US will progress to the last 16 in second. 

The Netherlands have topped the group after they thumped Vietnam 7-0. 

England are heading for the last-16 of the Women's World Cup as they beat China 6-1 in their final group match in Adelaide.

Chelsea's Lauren James set up the first two goals before scoring a brace herself.

Denmark were 1-0 winners against Haiti thanks to a first half penalty from Pernille Harder as well as 100th minute clincher by Sanne Troelsgaard Nielsen.
