World Cup Review: Germany Hammer Morocco In Opening Match

There was a lot of action over the course of the first round of games.

Germany got off to a perfect start to their Fifa Women's World Cup campaign as they strolled to a comfortable 6-0 win over Morocco in Group H. 

Alexandra Popp scored twice in the first half, Klara Buhl made it 3-0 in the first minute of the second-half with the fourth and fifth goals both being own goals.

Lea Schüller made it 6-0 in injury time. 

A late Christiana Girelli goal secured Italy their first win at the Fifa Women's World Cup. 

Her 87th minute strike was enough to see off Argentina 1-0 in group G.

The final game of today saw Brazil hammer Panama 4-0 in Group F.

Ary Borges scored a hat trick, while Beatriz Zaneratto João also netted for the Brazilian's. 

On Sunday, Sweden got off to a winning start in Group G.

They needed a 90th minute winner to get past South Africa 2-1 in Wellington.

In Group E, the Netherlands beat Portugal 1-0 while in Group F there was a surprise as it finished 0-0 between France and Jamaica. 

And, on Saturday,  Denmark beat China 1-0 in their Group D clash. 

Substitute Amalie Vangsgaard scored a winning header in the 90th minute. 

Elsewhere in this group Georgia Stanway's first-half penalty gave England a 1-0 win over Haiti in Brisbane. 

While the holders The United States began their tournament defence with a comfortable 3-0 win over debutants Vietnam in Group E.

And 2011 winners Japan are top of Group C following a 5-0 thrashing of 10-player Zambia.
