Ten man Athlone Town suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of UCD last night.
Adrian Carberry's side took the lead through Lee Duffy before being pegged back in stoppage time of the first half by a UCD penalty.
The students were reduced to 10 and then 9 men during the course of the second half, while Ciaran Grogan saw red for the midlanders.
UCD rallied to take all three points when Yoyo Mahdy scored his second of the night in the 72nd minute.
Their next game is a home tie with Shamrock Rovers II this Friday in Lissywoolen.
