The National Ploughing Championships take centre stage this week. MJ broadcasts live from Ratheniska Co. Laois where is he joined by Minister for Agriculture Charlie McConalogue. Minister McConalogue states that the reduction in the Nitrate Derogation is here to stay while also defending the change of rules in relation to slurry movement from farm to farm. The IFA presidential candidates Francie Gorman from Co. Laois and Martin Stapleton from Co. Limerick speak about why they both feel best placed to be the next head of the organisation. Martin Walsh from Major Engineering gives an insight into a hugely successful Irish agri business which started off in Mayo in 1976. Today employing over 100 people and exporting machinery all over the world. Tom Moore from Midland Veterinary in Portarlington chats about the business which operates both in store and online. He speaks about how the best part of his job is helping farmers on a daily basis.
