Those over the age of 65, along with homeowners and people who are retired, report the highest levels of happiness.

Data from the CSO shows overall, just over a quarter of the population feel a high level of satisfaction with in their life. Women were more likely to report feeling depressed, however, men are more likely to feel lonely.

Aoife McGrath, Psychotherapist with Inner Therapy, Portlaoise has been speaking with Will Faulkner, on Midlands Today, and says people over 65 tend to reflect more on their lives:
