Following the finals in the Credit Union Schools Quiz at the RDS in Dublin, the winning teams have been revealed.
A county Laois school has been named as a runner up in Competition B (under 13) in the national 2024 Credit Unions School Quiz finals.
Emo National School put forward students James Cosgrove, Pierce Milner, Caolan Gilliard and Caoimhe Coffey, representing Portarlington Credit Union.
They were joint runners up along with David Baynes, Noah Gallagher, Iarla Hannon and Rowan Harrison from Quighnamanger National School, Ballina representing Ballina Credit Union.
They were also runners- up with Eoghan Kelleher, Milo McKeogh, Lucas Getachew Chanie and Paddy Shanahan from Ballyroan Boys School representing Heritage Credit Union.
The finals took place at the RDS in Dublin on Sunday 7 April.
Although 90 teams competed in this finals these teams were able to stand out by demonstrating their excellent intelligence and teamwork.
The winning teams are:
Winners Competition A (Under 11): Gareth Doyle, Michael Duffy, Aoife Hillery and Cian Gillespie from Quighamanger National School (representing Ballina Credit Union)
Winners Competition B (Under 13): Cillian Darcy, Cate Reidy, Muireann Lynch and Lucas Quinlan from Knocknacarra Educate Together (representing Claddagh Credit Union)
The runner- up teams were:
Joint Runners- up Competition A (Under 11): Heidi Davies, Conor McGroary, Ciaran McGlynn and Luca Quinn from Scoil Aodh Rua and Nuala (representing Donegal Town Credit Union).
Ageel Wahid Masud, James Behan, Noah Mukomeza, Nathaniel Gibbs from Glasheen Boys National School (representing The Lough Credit Union)
The school competition started several months ago, with over 25,000 students from around the island competing at local and regional levels before it got narrowed down to the teams in the finals.
