100 Ambulance Staff Assaulted In Past Two Years

29 of those are in the North Leinster region.

There have been 100 incidents of assault against ambulance service staff in the past two years.

29 of those are in the North Leinster region, 17 of which have been direct physical assaults, and the remaining 12 verbal assaults.

Laois Offaly TD Carol Nolan has labelled the assault of ambulance staff a 'disgrace,' and is calling for increased measures to ensure the safety of staff in the sector.

Minister Michael McGrath says the government will do all they can to provide supports to ambulance staff:
