Over 80 extensions and 50 alterations and conversions also got the green light between July and September.
120 new homes got the green light for development in the midlands between July and September.
New figures from the CSO show Westmeath was granted planning permission for the largest number of dwellings, at 46.
That's followed by 40 in Laois, and 31 in Offaly.
Also in the third quarter of 2023 in the region, 86 extensions were granted and just under 50 alterations and conversions were given the green light.
Nationally, the Southern region had the highest number of new dwellings given the go ahead for construction.
