More Midlands criminal defence solicitors are applying for legal aid certificates as their dispute with the Justice Minister continues.
The Irish Independent is reporting that one of the leading figures protesting against the new legal aid fees system is accusing Minister Jim O'Callaghan of trying to starve solicitors into submission.
Tony Collier, of Ferrys Solicitors is accusing the Justice Department of making a politically cynical move and insists he and his colleagues remain resolute in the stand-off.
However there have now been 64 legal aid certificates issued in the Midlands since the courts returned at the start of September.
There's been 47 in Laois, 17 in Offaly, and three in Westmeath.
