Accommodation Crisis Could Prevent Students Attending Third-Level Education

Midlands students continue to struggle to find somewhere to live for the upcoming academic year.

The student accommodation crisis may discourage young people from going on to third level education. 

That's according to Westmeath's Katie Crowley, who's a final year student in TUD, and cannot find accommodation in Dublin for September.

Previously, the computer science student resorted to commuting an hour and a half from Mullingar for her classes.

The Higher Education Minister Simon Harris admitted the crisis won't be fixed for this academic year.

Ms. Crowley says there's a big drop in the number of available rooms this year:
