Some centres in the midlands have waiting times of over 20 weeks.
It's hoped the waiting time for driving tests will be reduced to 10 weeks by next summer.
There are currently people in the midlands waiting up to 25 weeks to sit their test.
Recently, 45 new driving testers have been brought on stream, bringing the national figure to almost 200.
