Reports of power loss have been coming in since noon.
Power has been restored to nearly 1,000 homes and businesses in Laois.
The ESB received 978 reports of a loss of electricity in Portlaoise shortly after 12pm.
It says supply has been restored to all of those.
The ESB is also apologising to its customers for the loss of supply.
