Almost 2,500 People Attend Midlands Walk-In Vaccination Centres

More than 1,000 people turned up to the facilities in Westmeath.

Almost 2,500 vaccinations were delivered at walk-in centres across the midlands this weekend.

Westmeath had the biggest turnout with 1,051, while Offaly delivered 442 vaccines, Laois 445 and Longford 411.

The HSE says the success of the centres outstripped their expectations and the young people of Ireland showed up when needed.

Immunologist Professor Luke O’Neill says Ireland is on course to have the highest uptake of Covid 19 vaccines among young people in the world.
