Almost 500 Covid 19 Cases Confirmed In Laois In 7 Days

Stephen Donnelly says we're now at a pre-pandemic level of meeting people that's driving a certain amount of cases.

It comes as 3,903 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded, with 425 people in hospital last night and 76 in ICU.

Over 1,200 people have been diagnosed with the virus in the midlands in the last 7 days. 

Laois had the highest number of cases in the region with 480 people testing positive, followed by 425 in Westmeath and 304 in Offaly. 

Minister Donnelly says it's vital the unvaccinated to get their jab:
