Archaeological Finds Uncovered In Westmeath

Discoveries included clay tobacco pipes and pottery.

Archaeological findings dating back almost 1,600 years ago have been uncovered in Westmeath.

Gas Networks Ireland commissioned works to be carried out along their gas pipeline site crossing through Kilbrennan, Collinstown and Oldtown.

Discoveries include stone-lined cereal drying kilns, pottery, flint and clay tobacco pipes, all believed to date from between 400AD and 1400AD.
