The Fine Gael rep passed away suddenly last week.
Athlone Councillor John Naughten is being described as a man you "simply couldn't fall out with."
A funeral service for the Fine Gael representative of Roscommon County Council took place in St Brigid's Church, Drum this morning.
Mourners were told of his three great loves in life, his wife and daughters, farming and politics.
His brother and Independent TD, Denis Naughten, says he always tried his hardest to find solutions for the people in his community:
Mr. Naughten was due to stand for Fine Gael in the General Election in the Roscommon Galway constituency.
