New statistics from the CSO shows the average cost of a house in the region is now €249,300.

House prices in the Midlands continue to rise.

The average cost of a house in the midlands has gone up by 10% since the same time last year.

The latest property price index from the Central Statistics Office shows the average cost of a house in the region is now €249,300.

This compares to a figure of €226,600 in the same time last year, representing a 10% increase.

Nationally house prices rose by 7% and a half percent in the year to April.
