Fine Gael's objection to elements of the EU's Nature Restoration Law has nothing to do with wanting to kill the legislation according to their MEP Colm Markey.

A bill to restore natural ecosystems failed to progress in the European Parliament yesterday and has come under scrutiny from politicians at home and abroad.

There are fears that plans for re-wetting reclaimed bogland will affect agriculture.
