Laois County Council is launching a public consultation on the new Biodiversity Action Plan.
The plan aims to protect, restore, and enhance biodiversity, aligning with national and EU conservation targets.
Public sessions will be held across the county, from September 8th to October 31st, with venues including Portlaoise, Abbeyleix, and Rathdowney.
Attendees will learn about 100% funding opportunities under the Community Climate Action Fund for local biodiversity and climate projects.
The initiative is part of Ireland’s requirement for all local authorities to adopt BAPs by the end of 2026.
The consultations will be held in the following venues from 5pm-7pm, in 1 hour slots with first 5-6pm and the second 6-7pm:
- Rathdowney Youth Cafe: Tuesday, 9th September
- Abbeyleix Library: Thursday, 25th September
- Camross Community hub: Thursday, 2nd October
- Killeshin hub: Tuesday, 7th October
- Portarlington Community Centre: Wednesday 22nd October
- Portlaoise Library: Thursday, 16th October
