Permission has already been granted for a 21 turbine wind farm in East Offaly.
Bord na Móna is applying to An Bord Pleanála to increase the size of the blades set to be used on an Offaly wind farm.
Permission has already been granted for a 21 turbine windfarm in Cloncreen near Edenderry - but the semi-state company now wishes to increase the length of blade by 5 metres.
This will bring the overall length to 70 meters, which is still within the original planning guidelines.
Planners say the amendment is needed after developments to turbine technology since the application, to ensure the site is more efficient and can maximise its output potential.
