The worker's union says Bord Na Móna only agreed to meet with reps after strike action was threatened.
SIPTU says their members employed by Bord na Móna Recycling are to meet with the company this month, but only after the threat of strike action.
The union is campaigning against the proposed privitisation of what is the last remaining public waste collection company in the country.
The waste collection firm operates a wheelie bin collection service in 11 counties including Laois, Offaly, and Westmeath.
The trade union say they've made numerous attempts to reach out to the company before getting a response over the weekend after bringing up industrial action.
