A boy has been killed after being hit by a car in Longford this afternoon.
The crash happened at around 2 o'clock at Ardnacassa.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to Mullingar Regional Hospital.
The scene is currently preserved for examination and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward - especially any road users travelling in the Palace Crescent area of Ardnacassa between 1:30 – 2:30 this afternoon.
