Cabinet Approves Paid Leave For Women Following Early Miscarriage

The bill was proposed by Enterprise Minister Peter Burke.

Paid leave will be available for the first time to women who suffer an early miscarriage.

A bill brought forward by Enterprise Minister Peter Burke has been approved by Cabinet.

Under the proposals, women who experience a pregnancy loss before 23 weeks’ gestation will be entitled to five days paid leave, funded by their employer.

Minister Burke says he hopes the new legislation will encourage employers to be more understanding when it comes to pregnancy loss:
