The Irish Independent is reporting Laois Offaly Fine Gael TD Charlie Flanagan believes the invasion of Ukraine and plans for a reform of the Defence Forces justifies the need to re-instate a standalone Defence Minister.
The position was downgraded in 2011 in order to make room for a Minister for Children.
