IFA President, Ballinakill's Francie Gorman has called an emergency meeting with Bord Bia this afternoon.
An emergency meeting of Bord Bia is taking place following a request from the IFA president.
Ballinakill's Francie Gorman is making the call after it emerged that Dawn Farm Foods' sourced beef from Brazil.
The IFA Rep raised the issue with Bord Bia Chair Larry Murrin, who is also the Dawn Farm CEO, stressing that farmer confidence is critical, noting that Bord Bia’s work depends on farmers meeting quality assurance standards.
Meanwhile ICSA Rural Development Chair Edmond Phelan believes it's 'untenable' for Mr Murrin to serve as Chair of Bord Bia considering what he feels is a conflict of interest.
