A tourism action plan for the county’s rural regions is being sought by Fianna Fáil's Niall Gaffney.
Work is being done to improve tourism in Westmeath and more promotion can be done.
Fianna Fail Councillor Niall Gaffney is calling for tourism action plan for rural parts of the county this year, with particular focus on heritage, local points of interest and natural amenities.
He is aiming to draw up plans to lure people to different areas to explore as spring and summer time approaches.
Councillor Gaffney says he wants to explore more advertisements highlighting the county's attractions.
