The Independent TD for Laois is making the call in the Dail this afternoon.
The Dail’s heard calls for more powers to be given to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.
It's after its investigation into claims of price gouging among fuel providers found it could not ‘rule out’ the possibility of individual companies’ benefitting at the pumps.
However it determined overall cost hikes were a result of international actions, and not price gouging.
