Events are scheduled for the next number of weeks.
Commemorative medals are set to be presented to all serving and retired gardaí in Laois and Offaly to mark the organisation's centenary.
It's intended to mark their service to An Garda Síochána over the past 100 years.
All retired gardaí and garda staff in the district - and the families of those who've since died - are invited to make contact with Portlaoise Garda Station to receive their commemorative medal or coin.
Inspector Paddy Guinan says they'll be presented at centenary events over the next two months:
Retired gardaí or the relatives of deceased members will be presented with a service medal, while all serving, retired or deceased garda staff (formerly referred to as civilian staff) will be awarded a commemorative coin to mark their contribution to the organisation.
Those who are eligible are asked to contact Portlaoise Garda Station on 057 867 4100 or by email portlaoise.events@garda.ie.
An Garda Síochána is also asking anyone wishing to receive the service medal/commemorative coin to provide their contact details and in the case of persons receiving the medal on behalf of deceased relatives, to include details of the member they wish to receive the medal for.
Details of the dates for the formal ceremonies will also be circulated to all those expressing an interest in receiving these medals/coins.
