Widespread coverage of flooding in Athlone has had a negative impact on local business.
That's according to the town's Chamber of Commerce, which says visitors had an imbalanced sense of how bad the flooding issue was.
Chamber chief executive Gerry McInerney says the hospitality industry took a particular hit with people cancelling bookings.
He says there was a definite drop in footfall in Athlone over the last few weeks, even though the town was open for business:
