Changes To Inheritance Tax Needed in Budget - Maria Walsh

The Fine Gael MEP feels the current system puts farmers without children at a disadvantage.

A Midlands MEP wants to see changes made to the inheritance tax system as part of Budget 2026. 

Fine Gael rep Maria Walsh is calling for the government to abolish a tax system that disadvantages farmers without children.

Ms Walsh feels the Government has a chance to raise the threshold above the current €40,000. 

She says farmers are being penalised for passing their home and business to the next generation:
