Changes To Scheme To Aid First Time Buyers In The Midlands

From the region, Laois is set to benefit.

First-time buyers in Laois are in line to benefit from changes to a support scheme.

The ceiling for the First-Home scheme has been increased by €25,000 in six areas, which means the new threshold in Laois has jumped to €375,000.

The other five counties in set to benefit are Galway City and County, Limerick City and County, Waterford and Clare.

It helps buyers bridge the gap between their mortgage, deposit and the price of a new home.

The scheme's end of year report shows over 3,000 people have been approved by the strategy up to the end of 2023.

Junior Minister the Department of Foreign Affairs and Laois Offaly Fianna Fáil TD Sean Fleming says:

"We will continue to support first-time buyers as a priority with tax rebates and other financial supports to help them own their own home.

Our Housing for All plan, the most ambitious housing plan in the history of the State, is taking hold, with record commencements, completions and first-time buyer purchases seen across 2023.

My focus is on doing whatever I can to keep this positive momentum going and doing everything I can to help more people to afford their own home."
