Checkpoint In Place On Westmeath Road Ahead Of Taoiseach Arrival

The Taoiseach will be attending for Fianna Fail's centenary celebrations.

Access to a Westmeath road is being restricted by Gardaí ahead of the Taoiseach's visit to the county this evening.

The L1136 Rochfort Demesne/Lynn road, where it meets the N52 currently has a Garda checkpoint.

Fianna Fail members are descending on the Bloomfield House Hotel this evening to mark the party's centenary celebrations.

The road remains open for local access.

It comes amid a Garda crackdown following reports of acts of intimidation against officers and politicians during last week's fuel price protests.
