Calls are being made for long-term changes.
A midlands campaign group have told the Joint Committee on Agriculture, they want clarity and details, regarding a new scheme to support farmers affected by flooding.
The Save Our Shannon Organisation met with Oireachtas committee members including midlands TDs yesterday evening to outline their concerns.
The group want to see long-term, infrastructural changes to the River Shannon and the Callows that it flows by.
While expressing their gratitude for the meeting, Chairman Michael Silke say they still need answers to a number of questions:
