Owner of Innovate Build Greener in Tyrellspass, Des Morgan says there's many factors behind installation.
Cost is one of the main reasons heat pump installations are currently off target.
That's according to a Westmeath business owner, as the Climate Change Advisory Council is advising heat-pump installations need to increase in order to meet Ireland's building energy efficiency targets.
They're up by 21% n the last 12 months, with over 18,000 installed from 2019 to 2025, which is far from the overall goal of 400,000 by 2030.
Des Morgan runs Innovate Build Greener in Tyrellspass, which encourages people to install heat pumps.
He says homeowners still don't consider it as a first option:
