Coal Should Be First Target In Nationwide Ban On Smoky Fuel

That's the view of Westmeath Environmental Consultant Jack O'Sullivan.

A Westmeath Environmental and planning consultant believes coal should remain at the top of the list of a nationwide ban on burning smoky fuels. 

The threat of legal actions by coal firms outside of Ireland has delayed the introduction of any such legislation.

The Government is now looking at including turf in the ban -- and could put the proposal to public consultation. 

But Jack O'Sullivan says its hard for local authorities and Gardai to implement a partial ban:
