Columb Barracks Will Continue To Accommodate Refugees - Integration Department

A group of demonstrators blocked the entrance to the former army barracks last week.

The Department of Integration says Columb Barracks in Mullingar will continue to accommodate refugees. 

Currently 53 asylum-seekers are living at the facility.

Last week a group of demonstrators blocked the entrance to Columb Barracks in Mullingar as asylum-seekers were being brought to the site for temporary accommodation. 

There were rumours on social media last night the site would no longer be used.

But Minister of State, Joe O'Brien, says protesters will not stop the government providing accommodation for asylum-seekers:
