Concerns About Insurance Hikes For Those Tested For Covid-19

The potential issue was raised at a Laois County Council Meeting today.

A Laois councillor is raising concerns over hikes in assurance premiums for people who have a negative Covid test. 

Fine Gael's Aisling Moran says legislation is needed to protect people who are tested and don't have the virus. 

100,000 tests are taking place a week, with 93,000 receiving a negative test result last week. 

Councillor Moran says assurance companies raised premiums on people who tested negatively for HIV in the 80s and 90s, placing them in an at risk category:
