Concerns Raised Over Ballymore’s ‘Green City’ Vision for Athlone

An invitation has been extended to the group to bring further details to the council.  

Westmeath councillors have been left in the dark when it comes to Athlone becoming a green city. 

That's according to Councillor Frankie Keena as plans by the Ballymore Group to transform the town into a green city of 100,000 by 2040 have sparked skepticism. 

He believes there's been a lack of transparency, as elected members were left out of key discussions.   

The Ballymore masterplan includes 20,000 zero-carbon homes and a major TUS campus expansion.
