A fire has been extinguished at a home in the midlands.

The blaze broke out at Ashfield Estate in Mullingar yesterday morning, and local fire services arrived on the scene at 9.40am

Considerable damage was done to the structure, including a burst pipe due to excessive heat.

The residents were unharmed, although a mother and child were given oxygen by paramedics.

The source of the fire is unknown.
