A Labour Senator is underlining the importance of the project to the local community.
Construction on a long-awaited hospital in Athy is expected to begin in early 2025.
The replacement Community Nursing Unit at St. Vincent's Hospital in the town received planning permission in September of last year.
It will include 92 beds, and is set to be developed in two phases.
