Councillors Support New Fund For Smaller Offaly Communities

An annual pot of €100k is being considered by elected reps in the county.

The decision to increase local property tax by 15% has delivered €38 million in additional funding over the past six years, according to an Offaly Councillor.

During its monthly meeting, Offaly County Council says the additional funding, costing around €1 per week per household, has supported major projects in towns including Edenderry, Tullamore, Banagher, Shinrone and Moneygall.

A new €100,000 annual fund was also supported by councillors to provide targeted support for smaller communities in Offaly.
