Delirium Awareness Flag To Be Unveiled At Offaly Hospital

The flag will be launched tomorrow.

A dedicated awareness flag for Delirium is set to be displayed in Offaly this week. 

The Irish Delirium Awareness Flag will be launched at the Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore tomorrow as part of the global Pass the Flag campaign to raise awareness about the medical condition.

Delirium is a sudden change in a person's mental state, causing confusion or sleepiness, with 30% per cent of older adults in hospital settings affected and is often mistaken for dementia.

Clinical Nurse Specialist in Older Persons and member of the Older Persons Team in Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore Diane O'Toole says raising awareness about the condition can help those who have it:
